Stockpilies in my house. A little bit about stockpiling with coupons!

Stockpiling is important and key to extreme couponing.   Get a product when it is on sale for the a real good price and stock up on it!  I stock up on items if they are free with coupons all the time.  If it is a good coupon I buy it at Ebay or a coupon clipper.  You can find them by clicking at the top of my page at “are you new here couponing basics!”  Build your stockpile on free items it will take time and the best place to get a stockpile going is to play the drug store game with their coupons!

Here are just a couple pictures of my stockpiles.  You may think I have huge stockpiles but I don’t really compared to other extreme couponers.  One question I get is how do you store your stockpiles.  I just store enough under my sinks, beds, and in the cupboards.  I don’t have a garage full of items.

67 Boxes of Gain Dryer sheets.  I gave a couple boxes to family members!   There are 5 piles but 3 touch the ceiling above my dryer.

The gain was free.  I paid $30 for the coupons on Ebay.  7 I got from newspapers which I paid $.75 for all 7!!    With the gain deal I got the Xtra laundry detergent for free too.  You could get overage at Dollar General for each box which I put into other products to build stockpiles like hand soaps, Kleenex, lotion, and so on.    This pile is $170.25 in savings.  I think I won’t need fabric sheets for awhile.

This is under one of my four sinks with cabinets in my house .  I am only showing one sink.  This is one of my bathroom sinks.  Most of these items were free.  Unlike the above photo I didn’t buy these coupons on ebay.  Just used my usual 4 papers and internet coupons.  Root Awaking was my most expensive product for $.49 a bottle.  Air fresheners Free.  All the other Shampoos free.  Bars of soaps and Body wash free.  My  hubbies 40 body washes all free!  (watch for these during fathers day to be free and never buy body wash ever again :) )  My hubbies 15 deodorants all free!  Tons of razors, toothbrushes, floss, 3 tubes of toothpaste,  shaving gel, womanly products which I hid behind the ear swabs, hairspray, Clearasil and Neutragena products (yep free those went fast I love that product) and travel size products all free.  You should never have to pay for any bathroom products ever.

I am getting tired so off to bed.   Yesterday I didn’t posted was way to tired.  Maybe it is being 6 1/2 months pregnant.   Can’t wait to get normal sleep again maybe in the next year after the baby… ahhh

Organizing My Coupons!

Do you have a lot of coupons?

What is the best way to organize them.

You can use the binder method but this can be time consuming.  My binder I use only during summer months when I am not teaching.  It is set up in Categories and the layout of sections is setup just like my grocery store Jewel/Osco.

I now use the file system.  I only clip what  coupons I need to for the week.  I put the date on the front of them with a mark.  This is the best method for me.  I currently have to big portable bins with coupons (may need a 3rd one soon).  My coupons are in files seperated by date and insert and I try to keep them in organized in order.  My All You Magazines are also stored in there with printable coupons and coupons I recieve from freebies and so on.  If my coupons are organized it can take me only 15 minutes to 30 minutes to get my list and coupons clipped.  How do I know if there is a coupon to go with a sale.  I may check coupontom.com it has a data base of what coupons are out there (it doesn’t have all coupons in every region but a great resource)!  I use a little accordian pocket file case (that I picked up in the Target $1 spot).  I then seperate them by category in my case or by store.  Then when I find an item I move that coupon to the front pocket (because sometimes I will not find items on my list).

Coupon Know How For Walgreens!

For all the newbies.  This is the first place I started couponing at because it was the easiest when I didn’t have a big stack of coupons and I could receive the Register Reward (RR) coupons.

Walgreens Coupon Policy Click Here

Walgreens Weekly Ad Coupons:

These are coupons found in the weekly store ad. They usually advertise a price (ie: Dawn Dish Liquid 99¢) and most have a limit on how many items you can buy with the coupon. You must use the coupon in order to get the advertised coupon price. If the coupon says Dawn Dish liquid 99¢, limit 4 then you can buy 4 Dawn and use the one coupon. Once the coupon is scanned it will subtract a certain amount that will make all 4 Dawns 99¢. If you buy more than the limit then you won’t get the sale price for all the items. These coupons can be combined with all other coupons. Also, you don’t have to cut them out! Just show the cashier the coupon you want to use and they will scan it or type in the coupon code.

Walgreens EasySaver Catalog Coupons:

The Walgreens EasySaver Catalog is found at the front of the store with the Walgreens Weekly Ad. The front of the booklet has Walgreens coupons called Instant Value Coupons – IVC. These coupons can be combined with manufacturer coupons. They usually have a limit of how many items you can use one coupon on but sometimes will work for more than the limit. I recommend doing separate transactions if you want to get more items than the limit. These coupons do not have to be clipped either.

Walgreens Register Rewards:

Walgreens Register Rewards – RR – are manufacturer coupons that print out when your transaction is complete. They are coupons that are used on your next purchase. When doing a deal that earns Register Rewards you CAN use coupons! Coupons have no effect on the deal. If the Reward doesn’t print then you either bought the wrong items/not enough items or there is a problem with the system/Catalina machine. Usually the manager will resolve it. When you earn a Register Reward you can use it to buy other items that earn Register Rewards, but not on the same deal. For example: Buy Tylenol for $3.99, earn $3 Register Rewards. Then buy Gillette Razor for $7.99, use $3 RR from Tylenol, earn $4 RR for Gillette. You cannot use the $3 Tylenol RR to buy more Tylenol and earn another reward. Using the Reward will cancel out the Register Reward that you should be earning. But, you can use Register Rewards on OTHER deals earning Register Rewards.

EasySaver Rebates:

In the back of the EasySaver Catalog you will find rebate offers. These offers are good all month (usually). Walgreens usually has a couple of Free -after-rebate (FAR) items each month. Rebates can be mailed in or submitted online. It is very easy to submit online and it means you get to keep your receipts (in case you want to send them in for other rebates). You can choose to have a check mailed to you or have your rebate put on a Walgreens Gift Card. The gift card is the best option because you get a 10% bonus! Then once you get your gift card you can use it to pay for the next months rebate items. You can use coupons on rebate items. For example: Almay mascara $6.99 & earn $6.99 rebate. Use a $1 coupon to pay only $5.99 and still earn the full $6.99 rebate.

Coupon Rules:

Walgreens registers will not let you use more coupons than items purchased (excluding Walgreens Ad Qs & IVCs). So, you can buy 1 item, use an IVC and a manufacturer Q and it will be fine, but if you try to use a RR too it will not let you. Add a cheap candy or pencil to your order and the register will accept the coupon. If you want to buy 1 item you cannot use 2 RRs to pay for it because the number of coupons is exceeding the number of items.

Coupon Order:

The best order to give the cashier your coupons is Manufacturer Coupons, then IVCs, then Walgreens Ad Qs, then Register Rewards. That way there is a possibility for overage (not all stores will allow it though). For example: Gum is regularly priced $1.19, use a B1G1 coupon which will deduct $1.19 then use the Walgreens Weekly Ad Q that makes the gum 2/$1 which will deduct $1.38 from your order. That means you get the gum free plus 19¢ overage.

My Walgreens Deal Posts:

Walgreens deals are generally the same in all states (double check your ad though). When I post a deal, I post in this format:
Item & Price
-Coupon to Use
= Price After Coupon
Rebates or RR Earned
= Price after Coupon & Rebates/RR

This way you can see what you will be paying OOP (out-of-pocket), the rebates & RR that you should earn and the final cost.

Could you copy coupons why or why not? Please do not do this because IT IS WRONG! Why?

I had someone at work ask me this question?  Who is a newbie at using internet printable  coupons (IP  Q’s).   Could you copy coupons why or why not?  Please do not do this  because IT IS WRONG! Why?

Right now there seems to be an increase of fraudulent internet printable coupons (IP, Q’s)  being used. One thing new couponers don’t know it is totally fine to use IP q’s if used they follow the rules.   A big problem is consumers take a IP Q  and then they photocopy the coupon  (some people do this a billion times okay I might be exaggerating but at least a 100 times).   It is illegal to copy a coupon.  Real legit coupons each have a specific computer code printed around the outside of them that make them legit.  This is why you download computer coupon printers to your machine.  They will let you only print 2 of that certain coupon you want.  If you want more then you will need to find another computer to print from and this will make it legal.  So there are ways to get around the system legally.  Please don’t do illegally by copying it makes it harder for us who coupon the right way.
So why stores get mad cause you are cheating them out of money if you copy!  If a consumer uses a coupon that is photo copied and fraudulent the store does not get PAID!  This cause the store to loss money.  This means you are stealing from the store.  They could of made 8 more cents on you per coupon if you would of done it legally but if you copied them then it is like shop lifting.   Many stores have quit taking internet printable coupons for this reason and this could be the reasons for Sullivan’s grocery store in Rochelle and Mendota, IL.  When people ask me why they don’t take IP Q’s.   Right now still many stores take them but all it takes is a few people to do wrong and poof the IP q’s are gone forever.  These are great espeically for those who live in the country to that can’t get the Chicago Tribune or some major newspaper in their area to bring them a newspaper.  If you know someone out there who is doing this and doesn’t think it is wrong tell them know what you know please.  There is a right way on how to use coupons and if you want multipule copies then find like 3 computers and you will get 6 coupons for that product you want and the store will be paid.  Heck use 12 computers and get 24 of that one product you want.  But do it legally so the store gets paid please.

Save your money all year around!!!!! You just need to know the store cycle lows!!!!!

Save your money all year around!!!!!

You just need to know the store cycle lows!!!!!

January – Starting of the year you can score linens and towel at a discount.  So cheap clean sheets.

February – Stock up on winter clothes, coat and snow boots, which go on sale at this time to make room for the spring clothes coming in March.

March -Small electronics like digital cameras from last year are cheaper in March.  Why the new year’s models are usually just hitting stores.

April - What can you find this month?  Great deal-o’s on cookware and other household items.  Why you ask?  Because retailers discount all of these for the wedding gift giving people.  Weddings will start to hit there peak in the summer months hear so stock up! One more thing that is on sale is spring cleaning items.  Stock up on cleaning supplies this month!

May – you will find garage sales starting to hit and flea markets are held here in the spring and summer months years around.

June - Look for deals on gym memberships during the summer months.  When it’s nice outside people tend not to hit the gym as much.

July – The stores use any holiday a reason for a sale.  So for July fourth there are big sales going on.  On everything to items for that barbeque, cars, carpet, clothing and toys.  Plus much much more things will be 75 percent off mark down.  Be savy check blogs at this time even for unadvertised sales and clearances this month!

August – Most summer gear is starting to go on sale.  In August you will find fall items coming out.  So buy grills, lawn items, furniture, garden supplies, air conditioners, even bathing suits  (these also continue to be clearancing out through the middle of September).

September – this month and also the end of August school supplies and office supplies go on sale and can be extremly good buys.  If you shop around for your kids school supplies and go to several stores you should be able to score almost all their items for free or a penny.   This year we got our notebooks, loss leaf paper, folders, and crayons for a penny or free (just tax) (I am a teacher and my DH is a college student so we love these sales and stock up for the year). This is the best time to also shop around for a computer and get a discount!

October - this month you will be looking for home appliances.  Why new home appliances are introduced to the public in the fall.  So that model with a scratch on the floor could be a great find at a major discount!  It probably has a scratch no one will see.  This is a good deal because prices of appliances rarely change from one year to the next.

November – Holiday sales keep starting earlier and earlier especially with a weak economy people say so look for plasma (flat screen) T.V.’s on sale now.  Plus toy discounts and gift items.

December – The week after Christmas is the best time to buy Seasonal items.  This doesn’t just mean Christmas trees,  holiday wrapping, ornaments and decorations.  It also means holiday lotion sets, candles, toys, or how about that Holiday cleaning supplies.  Don’t forget they will clean the same way even if they have snowflakes or Santa Claus is on the product!

Note:  There are more sale cycle lows on items.  This is one guideline to use.  Happy Savings

Why Coupons? Arent they a waste of time.

Why do you coupon?  Isn’t it time consuming?  Is it worth it?

I have become addicted coupons to say the less and I never ever want to go back to paying full price for anything ever again.  Couponing has really changed as I see even in the last five years when I started and tried to coupon.  Many blogs and things took off during the down turn of the economy and recession as of 2007 and on.   This article will discuss how I use coupons, why and other informational facts of couponing.

First step first let’s settle the debate about the use of coupons and is it worth it? You will find many people who will tell you, it takes to much time plus lots of energy.  They will tell you that the only way to get money is to spend time making it.  Hmm yes time is money and if you work hard at your job you will get paid for your work but the same can be said for coupons.  The more time you put into it the less you will spend and once you learn the country mommy’s saving guideline to saving you will save a lot!  More savings than any paid site like thegrocerygame.com.  To me yes coupons can be a very awesome tool in lowering your grocery bills and even more.  When coupons are used right they will have a total new effect on your pocket booklet.
Let us observe people who think people that use coupons are a waste of time. Let us think what they are thinking the first thing that they maybe thinking is, people buy products they normally wouldn’t buy. If you’re getting a product for half off many people will buy it! They are spending money they won’t have spent to buy a product they don’t need. With people who start couponing, they can start off this way and this is a number one common problem. If you start couponing please remember manufacturers don’t really care about our family budgets. The manufactures use coupons as a marketing tool that helps get their products into the consumers’ hands.
The next biggest excuse I hear from people who don’t use coupons is that they are difficult to organize, clip and use. Yes, I hear this all the time and gets old.  But hey it’s better for me in the long run because the shelves will be stacked with wonderful goodies.  Plus oh my gosh I forgot my coupons at home!’ What is country saving mommy thinking if I did that oh my gosh I left my cash at home (referring to coupons)! You have to look at coupons as a new part of your budget. The way to get coupons to work is staying organized and creating a good system that works for you.  There are a number of systems out there.  What pennies can actual buy you things today if you use coupons correctly and you can save a bundle if you know the sales patterns which are easy to find with the internet is best for you and saves you the most money.  Which system works for you!

The third thing I hear people say is that you only save so little! Trust me every penny saved is a penny earned in my book!  Right?  Did you know that the  internet has changed the game!! (not the way your mom or Grandma could save with coupons back in the day).
What I am talking about  is that if you  use a little bit of organization, coupon usage and time.  You will get the hang of coupons and can save a bundle for the rest of your life!
You’ve got to be organized.  Use the binder method or file method.  I use the binder method over the summer when I am not teaching.  I use the file method when I am working.  Both work great and the binder can take a little more time.

Quantity of coupons equal’s quality of life at couponing.  If you only clip out one coupon, what’s the use? I buy 5 to 10 papers!  Yes some people will look at you strange, but you’ve got to understand why. In order to save a lot with coupons, you’ve got to use a lot of coupons. It’s a very simple to understand.  I also get my families newspapers.

It will take you about 3 months to be fully organized with a stash of coupons.  When starting with coupons  organizing  them (soon to come pictures of my organization methods).  The last step is the most important: you need to play the waiting  game with the store  price sale cycle. When things go on the lowest low of a sale they are going to go on then it is stock up time for that item.  Don’t forget if you are traveling with coupons don’t forget that fat stash of cash at home!. You need to be patient and wait till things go on SALE!!. When you use an additional coupon savings you will get items for nearly free. It’s an amazing concept!!   Just be patient!!

How have I lowered my grocery bill and more?

My grocery bills I save about 50 percent or more each time.

My style is to be very disciplined!  That means I go with a list, I do major planning and plus I never buy something I won’t use unless it’s free! My DH would get mad if I wasted money on something cheap we didn’t need.  Warning using coupons the right way can be quite addicting, and sometimes we all tend to want to use them on items just because they are a fabulous deal.  Yes we have a set budget for coupons we set aside cash for it.

Please everyone reading my site please feel free to ask questions, learn and really get involved here. We can help each other out with saving and deals. I will help you save hundreds every month here on countrysavingmommy.com!  I love teaching people.  I can teach class starting late October 2010.  Libraries usually pay to have guest speakers so I would be free at a local library plus I do house parties and more for a fee and I can teach you if you want some one on one shopping experience with coupons.

How do I get started and what should I do next Sunday?   Do the following as I would tell my students study hard and it will pay off in the end.  Do these four things and you are on your way!!!
1) On Sunday buy at least 4 to 6 papers (make sure the coupons are inside)
2) Get organized.  Read about organizational strategies.
3) Use one coupon on an item that is on sale that you buy normally.

4) Get involved in some couponing network there are people out there who want to help out showing the new ways they learned to save.  So become involved in some coupon network and make friends!.  One Luv and goodnight.
